Federal Bureau of Investigation
The American Museum of the Moving Image, NYC
Major TV Network

Federal Bureau of Investigation
Situation: The FBI does not throw out filed media and is always running out of space and upgrading their storage technology.
Problem: in 1987, the FBI needed to find one company that could handle their continual space and storage problems.
Solution: MBSI was chosen to provide an on-going solution because we have GSA contracts with a number of manufacturers and has been trained to install and maintain these products.
Result: MBSI continues to install and service a variety of high-density audio, video and media storage systems to the FBI. These conserve space while providing needed efficiency and security.
The American Museum of the Moving Image, NYC
Situation: The museum needed to both improve storage for 45,000 irreplaceable artifacts, many dating from the silent screen, and reduce needed floor space.
Problem: The collection was housed in 48 file drawers in different rooms. Extra handling was causing wear, and misfiles were prevalent.
Solution: MBSI recommended the Megastar® MediaStation Electric Lateral File (ELF). Photos are stored in protective covers and hang in suspended lateral files. Needed floor space is reduced 40%, collection access is increased with improved security, and the irreplaceable photographs are protected from dust, dirt and potential water damage.
Result: "The MediaStation ELF has a very positive impact on the way the AMMI handles its collection; it is safe and comfortable for the staff, and the collection is housed in the best possible environment."
Major TV Network
Situation: TV Network News Dept. needed a mobile storage system for its videotape archives. The system had to provide quality, safety and flexibility, and easily accommodate changes to storage design by on-site staff.
Problem: Available storage systems did not provide affordable adjustment of double face shelves or, lifetime warrantees, and required tools to change shelves and backstops.
Solution: MBSI installed Elecompak® high density mobile storage which exceeded all specifications.
Result: A network news videotape storage archive with over 100 32 foot-long ranges that is maintained and changed by on-site staff.
